How to Brew Loose-Leaf Green Tea
-
Put one level teaspoon or more to taste directly into the pot
-
Pour on hot water (not boiling!) and brew one to three minutes, or to taste**
-
Pour the tea through a strainer into a cup and drink up!
You can also use an infuser in a cup or pot. Put the leaves in the infuser, pour on the water, and brew. Remove the infuser with the spent leaves and enjoy your tea.
**If you have never tried green tea before, it is better to err on the side of UNDER brewing, say a minute, then taste. Continue to brew longer as desired.
Our Tips for Making a Great Tasting Green Tea
-
For optimal flavor, use regular, fresh, filtered or spring water. Soft water and 100% sodium-free water do not generate the best taste.
-
Bring the water to a complete boil (100°C or 212°F) then cool down to about 85-95°C or 185°F. (You may also just heat the water to 85-95°C or 185°F.
-
Use 1g green tea (the sample bag contains 4g) per 12 oz (350 ml) water. Or for smaller quantities, use 0.4g green tea and 2 oz (60 ml) water.
-
