About us

I'm Roger Sun, and green tea has been a passion of mine and for more than 15 years. Like many people from Asia, I drink green tea daily, and have sampled all types of green tea. However, it wasn't until I met my wife that I discovered the true nectar of green tea, Yunnan Green Tea. My wife gave me several samples of pure green teas grown by her uncle, Chonglu Huang. I tried them and was totally delighted. At last, I had found green tea that has a rich flavor and the best benefits: relaxing the body and clarifying the mind.

Why was this tea so special? The answer was Chonglu Huang, a modern man using ancient methods to create the best green tea possible. He did not start out as a tea grower; however, in fact, Chonglu grew up in a prosperous family in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province. During his youth, he traveled throughout the region and often stopped at a favorite little village called "Xiao Shi Qiao" (small stone bridge) about 50 miles south to the city of Dali which is lush and green and beautiful. On one of his visits, he fell in love with a charming girl. Soon afterward, they married, and Uncle Chonglu settled in the village homeland of his bride.

Like many villagers, they were farmers, and the couple planted tea trees along the slopes of the majestic mountains around the village. He was dedicated to planting and harvesting in the old traditional style and recognized that this village was a dreamland of unspoiled beauty with just the right climate, good air and water, and the healthy, vibrant soil needed to grow good tea. Chonglu made a deep impression on his wife's family with his hard work and, best of all, they enjoyed the extremely pure taste of the wonderful green tea he produced. Soon, he was not just Chonglu but known throughout Kunming as "The Tea Man".

Soon this special Yunnan green tea had become an essential part of the daily life of my wife and me. We eagerly shared our teas with friends who all had the same reaction: they loved it! Eventually, our friends convinced us to bring this special tea to market so that others could experience what they enjoyed so much.

After many trips back and forth to Uncle's village, sampling to discover our best choices, sourcing for the best packaging, and submitting our teas to rigorous inspections, we can now offer you what we believe to be the three best green teas of Yunnan: Silver Buds, Sencha, and "Uncle's Tea."

Try them today, and you'll soon understand the taste of Shangri-la.
